bodyNsoul Photography

The weekend of April one was a very good opportunity to do what we have been talking about in the bodyNsoul Photography Studio for a while already. I love to cook and frequently we cook ourselves wonderful dishes at home, since the office is very near home we discussed that we should photograph our food more often. While it is not MADE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY food, we still try to capture it in the most flattering way possible. As it was my girlfriends birthday this weekend more reason to share the beautiful and tasteful food we made and ate. While crossing the studio with the food, Guillo stopped me and kicked off this series of 3 food images, shooting the Sushi and the Sashimi. Two days later when I did a remake of the pasta and the shrimps I decided to shoot those too. In all cases Desiree is to be credited for the food styling and part of the cooking. Over time we should showcase a lot more food photography, most of it probably right out of the kitchen on it's way to our stomachs, but also some work we do for our clients.

BLISS is a new quarterly Surinamese magazine. In November 2010 we were contacted by Ismeralda Neede with the request if we were interested to do some of the photography for the magazine. After having a meeting with Ismeralda and Lucretia Redan. We decided that we were a good fit to each other and we agreed that we would start ASAP with the photography for the first edition.

We photographed Miss India Suriname 2010 - Sunaina Jagroep for the cover and the cover article, while we also photographed the fashion pages featuring Miss India Suriname 2009 - Cher Marchand and Miss Suriname 2009 - Zoureena Rijger. Last but not least we also photographed Rebecca Issa for the Magazine. Different than most of our projects Ismeralda managed the styling, hair and makeup for the shoots.

The shoot with Sunaina took place on the 26th of November in the bodyNsoul Studio. Her hair and makeup was done by Sharon Yang's Runway. The dress for her cover shoot came from Sari Nagar. During the pre-discussions with Lucretia and Ismeralda, we suggested shooting a white dress on a white background while using gold for the design of the magazine cover. Lucretia loved the idea. We started out shooting full body images while Sunaina was standing, but we soon decided that a sitting image would fit a lot better on the cover. For the shot of the cover story, Sunaina was dressed in a dress by CHARMED.

You will see him most of the time wearing a cap, jeans and a T-shirt. Armed with a camera and smile he walks around in the streets of Paramaribo(read: Suriname). He sees all, he hears all and he photographs it all. Before you even notice it you're image will be captured by the quickness of his fingers. People around him noticed that, and gave him the name of "Fast-fingers". Fast-fingers For his speed of his fingers on the shutter of Fast-fingers his camera. Fast-fingers: Born as Guillo Grant on April 20th 1986 in Suriname. Currently he is partner and photographer at bodyNsoul Photography.

On the 6th of December 2010, during a private event.We were invited to have a mini exhibition of some of our work. Since the event was in SHOOTERS, we opted to include some of the photography we have been doing in the club. While at the same time we showcased work done during other events hosted by the same company and some of our Art photography.

At the same time bodyNsoul partner Patrick Krolis was one of the speakers of the night and discussed photography as an Art and as a business with the guests. While partner Fausto Fraser was covering the event and partner Guillo Grant was making sure these images came live on screen.

SHOOTERS was transformed in a location with extravagant ambience and the live music, house DJ, food, wine and cocktails, mixed with very happy guests made all for a beautiful evening. Of course this lead to more beautiful bodyNsoul Photography during the event
